The Swansea and Mumbles Railway was the world's first passenger railway service [1], located in Swansea, Wales. Originally built in 1804 to move limestone from the quarries of Mumbles to Swansea and to the markets beyond, it carried the world's first fare-paying railroad passengers on the day the British Parliament abolished the transportation of slaves from Africa. It later moved from horse power to steam locomotion, and finally converting to electric trams, before closing in January 1960, in favour of motor buses. [2]. At the time of the railway's decommissioning, it had been the world's longest serving railway and it still holds the record for the highest number of forms of traction of any railway in the world - horse-drawn, sail power, steam power, electric power, diesel and petrol.

A conservatory is a glass and metal structure traditionally found in the garden of a large house. Modern Conservatory are smaller, can be made of PVC and are often added to houses for home improvement purposes. The traditional nineteenth century conservatory was a large greenhouse used for growing tender and rare plants, or, less often, for birds and rare animals - sometimes with the plants and animals living together. Many cities, especially those in cold climates and with large European populations have built municipal Conservatory to display tropical plants and to hold flower displays. This type of conservatory was popular in the early nineteenth century and by the end of the century people were also giving them a social use (eg: tea parties). Smaller garden Conservatory became popular in the second half of the twentieth century, as places which are part-greenhouses, for conserving plants, and part-recreational, as a solarium or sunroom. They are often used as an extra room rather than for horticulture. In the UK a Conservatory can also refer to a smaller glass enclosure attached to a house. In other parts of the world this is referred to as a Sunroom
